As long as I can remember I have been creating. I started pursuing art from a very young age.
After completing my BFA at Rhodes University in 2009 , I have been teaching and practising art from my printmaking studio in Johannesburg – working with a variety of students of all backgrounds and ages. I began my career as a Visual Arts teacher in a remedial high school – this experience taught me how powerfully the arts impact our lives. Working through art therapy, art theory, and art history with my students, I enjoyed watching the inner strength and confidence that grew within each child as they learnt to express themselves passionately, and honestly. I moved on from teaching full time to opening up my own studio and classroom where I could focus on my personal growth as an artist, and a select few students.
I am passionate about the arts and believe in continuous growth and development through dedicated experimentation and exploration. I work mainly in painting and printmaking – exploring alternative methods of printmaking. Influenced by the intricate details of this beautiful and transient world, my art reflects my relationship with it – physically, spiritually, mentally and emotionally.I enjoy creating from observation (and curiosity), the people and things I find myself surrounded/ immersed/ captivated/ engulfed by.
